Overview

The Fisher Chimneys is one of the most elegant alpine climbs in the Pacific Northwest. The route winds its way through the best terrain on Mount Shuksan, and includes elements of rock climbing, ice climbing,and glacier travel. The route is divided into several distinct sections: The Fisher Chimneys, the Upper Curtis Glacier, the Sulphide Glacier, and Mount Shuksan’s infamous summit pyramid.

ITINERARY

Baker Mountain Guides offers custom ascents of the Fisher Chimneys. We recommend a three-day itinerary.


  • Day 1: Fisher Chimneys

    We’ll approach Mount Shuksan via the Lake Ann Trail, and ascend the Fisher Chimneys. Climbing the chimneys is the highlight of the route and involves a mixture of exposed 4th and 5th class climbing. We’ll establish a scenic high camp at Winnies Slide.


  • Day 2: Summit Day

    We’ll ascend Winnie’s Slide to the Upper Curtis Glacier. The route wraps around the Upper Curtis to Hell’s Highway, and the Sulphide Glacier. We’ll climb the summit pyramid via the Central Gully or the Southeast Ridge and descend to camp.


  • Day 3: Descent

    After a restful evening and a hearty breakfast, we’ll carefully descending the Fisher Chimneys and return to the trailhead.
